Okanagan Technology Community Mentor Program

OSTEC and ORIC jointly manage the Mentor Program.

On August 1st 2009, Mark Payne joined the program as Business Coach. He is located at the ORIC Kelowna Innovation Centre in downtown Kelowna.

The Mentor Program is intended to support entrepreneurs who:

  • Develop new technology
  • Spend time and resources on R&D
  • Strive to create strategic advantage for their companies by adopting new technology
  • Have business management and/or access to capital issues related to technology/knowledge based assets

A business coach who will offer assistance free of charge - either directly - or by drawing on the expertise of a network of experienced entrepreneurs and business development professionals - with activities such as:

  • Evaluating commercial opportunities that their ideas, products, and/or services might provide
  • Developing comprehensive business plans and investor presentations
  • Accessing capital
  • Determining their human resource needs
  • Managing the growth of their business

We are always looking for entrepreneurs and professionals with expertise in areas such as:

  • Finance/Accounting
  • Intellectual Property Protection
  • Accessing Capital
  • Commercializing Technology
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Market Research
  • HR Recruitment & Retention

Defining principles of the Mentor Program:

  • Our mentors volunteer their time
  • What goes around comes around: some of our volunteer mentors have their own mentors within the network.
