Business incubation is a business support process that accelerates the successful development of start-up and fledgling companies by providing entrepreneurs with an array of targeted resources and services (source NBIA)
Pre-incubation Program:
This 6-month program is specifically designed to cater for the needs of pre-start-up companies, allowing them the space and giving them access to the skills necessary to finalise their initial business concept, define their particular product or service offering, and determine market viability. Successful completion of this program could result in acceptance into the Incubation Program.
To apply: submit a concept document that describes your proposition, defines your innovation, and demonstrates your commitment to taking it to market.
Incubation Program:
This program is designed to enable start-up and fledgling companies to get established, to become sustainable and to accelerate their growth over a 1-3 year period.
To apply: submit a business plan that demonstrates feasibility, finance-ability, fit with our technology focus area, and the potential: to develop intellectual property, for high growth, and for international sales.
Applications for entry will be considered on a case-by-case basis and could involve a presentation to a selection panel to determine eligibility and suitability. Criteria considered may include:
Stage of the business
Financial viability
Qualified management team
Potential for future growth/large addressable market
Potential for job or value creation
Barriers to entry
Entrepreneurial flair
Ability to benefit from support and training provided
Culture fit
Long-term contribution to the growth of the knowledge economy and the development of a high-technology cluster in the Okanagan
