Doug Corbishley – Chair

Doug Corbishley was born in Penticton and raised in Oliver on a cherry orchard. He graduated UBC 1959, with a BASc in Chemical Engineering and holds a degree from the Insead senior business executive programme.  Doug joined ICI plastics division in 1960 and moved to National Starch and Chemical (NSC) in 1961 and retired from NSC in 1997.  NSC is US based and one of the largest specialty chemicals companies in the world (over 2 billion in sales).  Doug was instrumental in the company's drive to globalize their business through acquisition of existing businesses and joint venture partnerships.  He worked in Mexico, Brazil, Thailand, Japan with specific P&L and development assignments and also maintained contact in other parts of the world.  Eventually, Doug assumed complete responsibility for the management and development of all of NSC's European, Middle Eastern and African businesses. In 1989 was named Group V-P and elected to the board of NSC.  Currently, Doug is consulting and mentoring on a part time basis.  His focus for the consulting work is on businesses under 20 million in sales with young leadership. Mentoring work relates to young people who have been in their business for 5-10 years.
